Another cool way to increase traffic to your blog or website is via a widget. At least two ways you can drive traffics to your blog using a widget, that is to leave your footprint inside a widget shoutbox or offer free widgets.Shout-box widget
A shout box is also known as chat box (or cbox). When installed on a site, it allows the visitor to make a short comment. This is when you can take advantage of the situation when you are the visitor. This means, when you surf the net and came across a site with a shout-box widget, leave some comments or greeting and a link (URL) to your blog or website. Curios site owner or their visitors may click that link and hence, redirect to your blog. When that happen, you got a traffic.
Free widgets
If you are a software developer, maybe you can toy with the idea to develop a widget and offer it for free. Visitors will visit your site to get a free download. In fact, free giveaway usually attract traffic. Just look at download.com or cnet.com. If you wish not to host the widget file, you can always upload it to a free downloader sites so that their users can download it. In most cases, as a credit, there would be a link to your blog. This will drive traffic to your blog as well.
What is a widget
If you are lost on what is a widget, it is basically a nifty little application that you can installed on your computer desktop or blog that perform some kind of function (like showing news ticker, photo slide show, adjust your speaker volume and so on).
